Job Summary
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Recycling and Materials Management Section (RMMS), guiding staff in developing section goals and coordinating program activity to advance sustainable materials management and recycling infrastructure in North Carolina. Oversees technical and financial assistance, grant administration, data collection and analysis, and the creation of written technical materials and outreach services (including on-site technical assistance). Builds cooperative relationships with regulatory agencies to support recycling initiatives, implements legislatively mandated activities, analyzes program metrics for strategic planning, and prepares presentations for internal and external stakeholders. The role requires leadership to manage grant-funded activities, budgets, and reporting, and to drive projects and workshops that further the section’s objectives. Minimum education and experience as specified, with a hybrid telework option noted for the position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in environmental work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
