Job Summary
Environmental Program Coordinator for Austin Water's Onsite Water Reuse Program. Leads development and implementation of the onsite water reuse system operating permit compliance program within the Utility Development Services Division. Responsibilities include coordinating interdepartmental and interagency environmental/conservation projects, developing policies and procedures, reviewing site development plans for water reuse compliance, preparing reports and communications, managing budgets, and collaborating with management, staff, contractors, and the public to ensure regulatory compliance and program effectiveness. The role requires strong program coordination, data analysis, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and technical advisory capabilities, with a focus on aligning with City Code requirements and strategic plans. Hybrid work arrangement in Austin, TX. Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus six years of experience; Master’s may substitute for up to two years; related experience may substitute for education up to four years.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Environmental Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning)

- Experience coordinating interdepartmental environmental and/or water conservation reports
- Experience with commercial water use compliance programs to track potable water savings and monitoring requirements for water conservation and/or water reuse projects
- Experience in database development for tracking conservation and reuse water savings and program performance
- Experience reviewing site development plan sets for compliance with water reuse and water benchmarking regulations
- Experience programming and maintaining ArcGIS online maps and related applications such as Survey123 and Microsoft online apps
- Knowledge of City of Austin onsite water reuse, reclaimed water and water benchmarking regulations
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
- Ability to train others
