Job Summary
Environmental Pipeline Inspector role focused on monitoring and enforcing environmental compliance during pipeline construction across British Columbia and Alberta. Responsibilities include monitoring EPPs and permits, conducting site inspections (clearance, grading, right-of-way development, watercourse crossings, trenching, backfilling, reclamation), overseeing erosion/sediment control and fuel/chemical/waste handling, wildlife and habitat protection, Indigenous engagement, and maintaining daily environmental inspection reports. Requires post-secondary education in a related field, 3 years of pipeline inspection experience, knowledge of relevant BC/AB regulations and acts, GPS/mapping/reporting proficiency, a valid driver’s license, and safety certifications (H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, CSTS). This field-based, physically demanding role operates on a 6-on/1-off schedule and involves working outdoors in varying weather and rugged terrain. Preferably professional designation in related environmental fields.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or related field; equivalent combination of relevant education and experience considered
- 3 years of environmental inspection experience on pipeline or linear infrastructure construction projects
- Experience in environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands, watercourses, and forested regions
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting in BC and Alberta
- Proficiency with GPS, mapping tools, environmental reporting software, and Microsoft Office
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- H2S Alive (Energy Safety Canada approved); Standard First Aid / CPR; CSTS
