Job Summary
Develop strategic public outreach and education plans to increase waste diversion across residential, commercial, and school sectors. Conduct hands-on waste audits to determine material composition and present tailored programs to businesses, civic associations, and community events. Create collateral materials including guides, brochures, and newsletters while maintaining an updated website with educational resources. Build partnerships with non-profits to expand reuse markets and organize community incentive programs. Contribute to annual planning and track progress on outreach initiatives. Work Monday through Friday with limited travel, reporting to the Environmental Outreach Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental science, business administration, or a related field
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience implementing a highly visible program in a position involving public contact
- A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to two years' experience
- Graphic design and presentation experience
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
- Must be able to sit at a computer for prolonged periods
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.

- Experience working with residents, businesses and schools on waste prevention, reuse, and recycling
- Demonstrated experience creating effective networks with the public, businesses, community service organizations and governmental agencies
- Ability to communicate effectively and speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques
