Job Summary

Manage environmental policies and programs while serving as an internal consultant to Martin Marietta operations leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Supervise a staff of approximately three environmental professionals and contracted consultants across multiple markets. Direct permitting efforts for air emissions, water withdrawals, stormwater, wastewater, wetlands, mining, and land use activities, coordinating applications with operations, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies. Champion the company's safety culture and continuous improvement vision, acting as an advisor on project planning and permitting. Evaluate environmental liabilities for business transactions and represent the company before environmental agencies and public hearings. Select, lead, train, and manage staff performance, including appraisals, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental/Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or closely related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience over multiple industrial facilities in the environmental field
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to walk up to 200 yards over rough, uneven, and/or wet slippery terrain
  • Travel ~20% overnight
  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and reach
  • Must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet
  • Must maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders
  • Manual dexterity to operate telephone, personal computer, fax and copy machines and other office equipment
