Job Summary
Lead and direct all field environmental compliance and stewardship for the Fermi Matador power plant construction site, ensuring alignment with federal, Texas, and local regulations. Supervise a team of Environmental Coordinators to manage monitoring coverage, oversee SWPPP implementation, and conduct site inspections for dust, spills, and waste handling. Manage permit compliance across air, water, and stormwater categories while leading investigations of incidents and non-conformances. Serve as the primary contact for TCEQ, EPA, and USACE inspections, tracking performance metrics and reporting status to project leadership. Requires full-time on-site presence in the Texas Panhandle with availability for extended shifts, nights, and weekends during storm events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
- 10+ years of environmental compliance experience, with 5+ years in an environmental leadership/management role on large industrial, power, or heavy-civil projects
- In-depth knowledge of Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, SWPPP/SPCC requirements, and applicable Texas (TCEQ) regulations
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of environmental professionals in a field environment
- Strong experience interpreting and managing environmental permit conditions on active construction
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and hold accountable at all levels, from craft to executive
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
- Valid driver's license
- Full-time presence on an active construction site in the Texas Panhandle, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and uneven terrain
- Ability to walk the site for extended periods, climb ladders/stairs, and access elevated and confined areas
- Ability to wear required PPE at all times in the field, and to conduct field sampling/monitoring in varied weather
- Availability to support extended shifts, and occasional nights/weekends as project needs require (including storm-event stormwater inspections)
Desired Qualifications
- CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) or REM (Registered Environmental Manager)
- CESSWI or CISEC (stormwater/erosion control) certification
- Experience on combined-cycle power plant, EPC, or large greenfield industrial construction
- Professional Engineer (PE) or QSD/QSP credential
- Familiarity with digital environmental compliance and monitoring/reporting systems
