Job Summary
Environmental Health Technician duties include assisting the Environmental Health Manager to ensure compliance with federal/state/county regulations, conducting OWTS permit reviews, issuing licenses, managing OWTS records, and drafting correspondence; 50% of time dedicated to Emergency Preparedness Coordinator responsibilities such as developing and updating local/regional public health emergency response plans (PHEP), coordinating with regional partners, planning and evaluating emergency response exercises, and providing guidance on CDC/CDPHE initiatives; duties also cover administrative, budget, public relations, and miscellaneous tasks to support departmental programs, contract management, and interagency collaboration; requires a bachelor’s degree and at least six months of relevant experience, strong writing and communication skills, GIS and maps competency, and the ability to work both in the field and office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental health, or emergency management; or education and experience providing the required knowledge and skills
- Minimum of six (6) months experience in environmental health and emergency preparedness
- Experience with environmental health regulations is desirable
