Job Summary

Conduct independent environmental health inspections for retail food, childcare, waste tire, and wastewater facilities to assess sanitary conditions and promote public health compliance. Utilize technical equipment for field sample collection in water, air, and wastewater quality investigations while applying Colorado and Garfield County public health laws. Collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to investigate public health concerns, manage outbreak responses, and coordinate community safety efforts. Provide plain-language education and guidance to regulated entities to improve safety standards and voluntary compliance. Maintain confidential records in accordance with HIPAA and issue permits for onsite wastewater systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, or a related field of study (30 credits of science-related curriculum)
  • Valid driver's license
