Job Summary
Environmental Health Specialist promoting public health by inspecting homes, businesses, and properties for health, safety, and environmental hazards; enforcing local health and environmental codes; conducting education and outreach; investigating complaints; providing information to individuals and groups; participating in court proceedings and enforcement actions; coordinating with multiple agencies; and contributing to emergency preparedness and response efforts. Requires knowledge of public health principles, environmental regulations, inspection procedures, and effective communication; ability to work independently and in teams; and a valid Indiana driver’s license. May engage in field and community-based work across diverse settings; standard work includes reporting, testimony, and collaboration with partner agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or closely related area preferred
