Job Summary
Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Deliver EHS training programs to employees, fostering a strong safety culture. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions. Manage hazardous waste disposal programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies. This role supports manufacturing employers in the Portage region, with a salary range of $59,000 - $91,000.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field
- 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and develop effective corrective actions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training, auditing, and collaborating with all levels of staff
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM)
- HAZWOPER certification (24-hour or higher)
- Experience with ISO 14001 or other environmental management systems
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to EHS
- Experience with EHS software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Cority, Enablon)
