Job Summary
Environmental Health & Safety Specialist IV leads and sustains hospital safety programs, minimizing risks to staff, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include inspecting and surveying operations to reduce hazards, developing and maintaining safety policies and procedures, delivering education and training, and leading in full-scale exercises and after-action improvements. Requires strong expertise in incident command systems (HICS/NIMS), emergency preparedness and response, and coordination of emergency operations, recovery, and continuity planning. Must demonstrate autonomous work style, strategic consultation to leadership, and the ability to translate data into actionable reports while collaborating with diverse stakeholders in a healthcare environment. Schedule is full-time days (Sacramento campus) with standard benefits and equal opportunity employment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health/Sciences, Public Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety or related field (equivalent experience accepted)
- 8+ years of recent relevant experience
- Experience leading Joint Commission and CMS Emergency Management compliance programs (preferred)
- Knowledge of OSHA, Cal-OSHA, The Joint Commission (TJC), and other safety regulations
- Ability to develop, implement, and sustain safety policies and training
- Strong leadership and ability to work independently in dynamic healthcare settings
- Experience with Emergency Operations Planning, Hazard Vulnerability Analysis, and incident action planning
