Job Summary
Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I responsible for implementing the company’s environmental safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Duties include maintaining the Safety Data Sheet database and chemical inventory, performing periodic safety inspections, coordinating hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities, collecting EH&S metrics, supporting ISO 14001 audits, workers’ compensation processes, CAPA actions, and safety training. Responsibilities also cover maintaining hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, hazard identification and risk assessment, OSHA/privacy/compliance training records, and ensuring safety processes align with QSR and regulatory requirements. The role requires collaboration with site personnel to improve safety performance, and onsite presence in San Diego with a 4-days-on/1-day-remote schedule. Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in health and safety are required, with professional safety certification preferred or in progress.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or combination of equivalent education and applicable work experience.
- Coursework or degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene, preferred.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, ASP) or working towards certification.
- Minimum 2+ years of Health and Safety experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
