Job Summary
Influence employee behavior to comply with safety and health standards while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations through monitoring, auditing, and risk identification. Oversee incident investigations, conduct safety and environmental audits, perform root cause analyses, and develop training programs for new hires and management teams. Manage daily metrics reporting, lead job hazard analyses, and represent the company as a subject matter expert on safety and environmental issues. Monitor waste management activities and analyze environmental data to prepare compliance reports and permits. This role supports the Wheeling, IL manufacturing plant, requiring 100% onsite attendance and participation in the Plant leadership team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety or related field
- 5-7 years of progressive safety leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles, including Combustible Dust, PSM, LOTO, Hot Work, Permit Required Confined Space Entry, PIT, and MEWPs
- Proficient in various risk assessment and root cause analysis methods
- Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge; advanced in Excel
- Must be an effective communicator, able to work both independently, and in teams of various sizes
- Strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with detail orientated focus on results
- Demonstrated effective interaction with regulatory agencies and senior business leaders
- Demonstrated ability to influence management, teams and individuals across multiple functions
- 100% onsite attendance
