Job Summary
Establish safety standards for the Brantford plant consistent with Ontario OSHA and local regulations, ensuring compliance with provincial, regional, and global environmental rules. Develop short-term and multi-year plans to drive continuous improvement, leading the implementation of sustainability metrics and safety culture initiatives. Oversee hazardous waste management, air pollution activities, and industrial hygiene programs while reviewing and approving equipment, process, and chemical changes for EHS impacts. Conduct safety inspections, coordinate root cause analyses for incidents, and manage contractor safety processes. Interface with regulatory agencies to negotiate permits and address neighborhood concerns regarding dust and noise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, Safety or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical)
- 5+ years' EHS experience in a manufacturing or a production setting
- 3+ years' experience with EHS federal regulatory compliance, reporting, training, and tracking
- Must have experience with environmental regulations, standards, and implementation of environmental programs in a manufacturing environment
- Must have knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and implementation of programs in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels and cultures of employees within the company and any/all individuals outside of the company
- Must be able to read, write, listen, speak and understand English
- Ability to instruct/transfer job information/knowledge to others
- Ability to travel regionally is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience implementing a safety culture change successfully is a plus
