Job Summary
Conduct detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations and lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action closure. Develop and maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, EPA, and other regulatory agencies by implementing health and safety programs covering HAZCOM, cryogenics, confined spaces, and radiation safety. Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards, inspect facilities for potential risks, and develop contingency plans for fires and spills. Resolve EHS hazards within cost and schedule constraints using elimination, substitution, engineering controls, and PPE. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering with 3+ years of EHS experience, with occasional extended hours and weekends. Relocation to Brownsville, TX is required; candidates must be U.S. citizens or eligible for ITAR authorizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines
- This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Brownsville, TX area
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering
- Demonstrated ability to research and apply the best industrial and working practices to provide effective services
- Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems
- Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience and/or education in construction safety
