Job Summary
Develop and maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, EPA, and DOT regulations for SpaceX's advanced AI infrastructure and large-scale compute facilities. Collaborate with engineering teams and facility managers to complete job hazard assessments, implement safety policies, and monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards. Lead incident investigations, perform detailed safety reviews of high-power systems and cooling infrastructure, and develop practical solutions using the safety hierarchy of controls. Implement programs covering HAZCOM, cryogenics, confined spaces, and lock-out/tag-out procedures while inspecting facilities to ensure regulatory adherence. This on-site role in Memphis, TN, may require extended hours, weekends, or on-call support during critical phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety programs, ideally in high-tech manufacturing, data centers, or industrial construction environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain any necessary security clearances or background checks required for access to SpaceX facilities
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
- This is an on-site position and will require relocation to the Memphis, TN area (or designated SpaceX facility) if not already local
- Position may occasionally require extended hours, weekends, or on-call support during critical construction or operational phases
Desired Qualifications
- Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or aerospace) with emphasis on occupational health and safety
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification
- Knowledge of process safety management, high-power electrical systems, liquid cooling infrastructure, and chemical delivery systems common in large-scale compute facilities
- Strong knowledge and experience interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
