Job Summary
Environmental Health and Safety Engineer – Level 4 responsible for managing and overseeing the EH&S program at the San Diego site. Responsibilities include interpreting and applying existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety regulations; assisting with program implementation to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation; coordinating with facility personnel, legal, and stakeholders; developing and maintaining EH&S plans, procedures, and permits; leading regulatory reporting, training, and inspections; managing the hazardous materials program, incident investigations, and spill control processes; and collaborating with the regional EHS organization to share best practices. Travel is expected (approximately 10%), relocation assistance may be available, and the role requires U.S. citizenship with eligibility to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance. The position emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to provide technical safety solutions in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of EHS experience with a Bachelor of Science degree
- 6 years of EHS experience with a Master’s degree
- 4 years of EHS experience with a PhD or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- U.S. citizen and ability to obtain/maintain Secret DoD security clearance
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience conducting personal protective equipment assessments and job hazard analysis
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong collaboration skills with all levels of an organization
- Ability to perform duties without direct supervision
