Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager – Data Center Operations

Job Summary
Develop, implement, and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and standards specific to data center environments while championing a culture of safety that protects personnel and drives continuous improvement. Serve as a technical resource to senior leadership, ensuring consistent application of EHS tools and alignment with regional strategic goals. Collaborate with operations teams to execute the regional EHS business plan, monitor key performance indicators, and oversee on-site performance including subcontractor activities. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for critical infrastructure systems such as electrical, HVAC, and fire suppression, and lead incident investigations with root cause analyses to implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other regulatory standards, coordinate emergency preparedness activities including drills for fire and chemical incidents, and manage environmental initiatives like waste management and energy conservation. Deliver EHS training programs and partner with engineering and security teams to embed safety into all aspects of data center design and operations. Maintain accurate EHS documentation, reporting, and metrics for internal reviews and external audits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience
- Ideally within data centers, industrial, or high-tech environments
- Based in Northern Virginia
- Flexibility to travel occasionally as needed
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks such as OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001/45001
- Experience with electrical safety
- Experience with confined space entry
- Experience with hazardous materials management
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure including UPS systems
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure including generators
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure including cooling technologies
- Proactive problem-solving abilities, especially in collaboration with construction teams
- Proficiency with EHS software platforms
- Proficiency with Excel
- Proficiency with reporting tools
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-reliability operational environment
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- Professional certifications such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
- Professional certifications such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
- Additional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM)
