Job Summary
Develop and implement written technical plans to ensure no environmentally based regulatory violations at the facility. Serve as the technical advisor to tenants regarding hazardous materials, waste, storm water, and pollution prevention. Conduct sampling and analytical collection and analysis while supervising Environmental Technician tasks and projects. Provide written and verbal reports to the supervisor and follow safety plans and hazard warning literature. Maintain working knowledge of federal, Washington State, and local laws governing generation, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm or as business needs dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Prior education/work experience in the environmental management field including working in a laboratory or university setting
- Previous employment history is similar field of at least 5 years
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check for Federal Agency to obtain security access badging
- United States Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Knowledge of principles and practices of safety management
- Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules
- Must be willing to work in inclement weather
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment required for each job duty
- Must be able to relay accurate information
- Must be able to adjust focus
- Must be able to bend, pushing, pulling, kneeling and standing for up to 12 hours
- Potential of lifting of up to 50 pounds such as equipment and other materials
- Monday – Friday 8am-5pm or as business needs dictate
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
