Job Summary
Manage waste management practices by identifying streams, documenting manifests, and ensuring proper storage and disposal. Develop and implement safety training programs for employees and contractors while reviewing standard operating procedures. Conduct periodic audits and environmental monitoring, including air and audible testing, to maintain regulatory compliance. Provide personal protective equipment and support internal emergency response for spills and evacuations. Work onsite in a manufacturing facility handling hazardous chemicals and waste, adhering to strict PPE requirements. Requires a background in chemical manufacturing and knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NJDEP regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of OSHA, EPA, NJDEP, BATF, DOT, CAA, CWW, RTK regulations and reporting requirements
- Knowledge of chemical properties, associated hazards, proper labeling and storage requirements
- Familiar with SDS sheets and their requirements
- Knowledge of e hazard materials emergency response actions, including spill containment, cleanup and reporting requirements
- Four-year degree in Environmental Science or other scientific discipline or relevant work experience in the hazard material regulatory or safety field
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to maneuver and move 30 to 55-gallon drums and up to 450 pounds utilizing proper ergonomic handling equipment and/or the proper techniques
- Must adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or gowning requirements
