Job Summary

Maintain environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple sites by conducting compliance audits, inspections, and training to ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Monitor hazardous waste disposal, manage safety equipment inventory, and lead health and safety committees while resolving non-compliance issues and recommending corrective actions. Respond to inquiries regarding safety metrics, oversee ergonomic programs, and support junior team members in developing mandated procedures. This fully onsite role at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Covington, KY location requires a Bachelor's degree, five years of relevant experience, and the ability to work in a laboratory setting with exposure to hazardous materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years)
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, ICAO, and other applicable regulations
  • Firm knowledge of worker's compensation requirements
  • Firm knowledge of laboratory and hazardous waste regulations
  • Firm knowledge of hazardous chemical/biohazard storage and disposal regulations
  • Solid understanding of air monitoring strategies
  • Able to lift and move objects of 15 to 40 pounds
  • Able to work in non-traditional work environments
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
  • May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents, typically found in healthcare or laboratory environments
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions

Desired Qualifications

  • May require familiarity with College of American Pathologists (CAP) inspection process
