Environmental Engineer (Solid Waste)

Job Summary
Manage consulting firms for permit applications, construction plans, site monitoring, and regulatory submissions while overseeing landfill construction projects including contract administration and budgeting. Build relationships with regulators to represent the organization in meetings, hearings, and inspections. Monitor landfill capacity, prepare airspace calculations, and coordinate fill sequencing plans. Conduct site evaluations to ensure compliance and identify expansion opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve operational challenges and offer proforma modeling for acquisitions and divestitures. Mentor technical staff to foster professional growth. Requires 5+ years of engineering experience with landfill and construction project management expertise. 50% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Environmental preferred)
- 5+ years of related engineering experience
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including remote locations
- Landfill experience
- Construction project management
- Knowledge of environmental regulations

- Civil, Chemical, or Environmental major (implied by 'preferred' in degree line)
- Ability to lead diverse teams and work independently or collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and landfill design
- In depth knowledge of environmental regulations, including solid waste, air, storm water and wastewater
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations
- Understanding of accounting processes and P&L statements
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional project management abilities with a focus on multitasking
