Job Summary
Environmental Engineer at AEPCO-based Apache Generating Station in Cochise, AZ. Responsible for supporting environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with Board policies and corporate objectives. Core duties include regulatory analysis, development of environmental compliance programs, permitting support, data collection and analysis, record-keeping, and periodic auditing of compliance programs. Role requires collaboration with internal/external stakeholders, field collection activities, and the ability to work on multiple tasks with strong technical writing and communication skills. Based in Cochise, AZ with on-site responsibilities and focus on utility-environmental regulations (Clean Air Act, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil or chemical engineering or closely related field
- 1–3 years experience working in utility industry in environmental permitting and regulatory analysis
- Demonstrated knowledge of utility-sector environmental regulations such as Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Clean Water Act or strong background in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and water/air/soil sciences
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Strong technical writing skills with ability to prepare compliance reports and programs
- Thorough knowledge of common PC applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
- Working knowledge of pollution control systems, environmental monitoring equipment, and environmental assessment models applicable to utility permitting projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability to work independently on multiple projects/tasks; capable of field work
