Job Summary
Provide technical oversight to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations including the Clean Air Act, RCRA, Clean Water Act, SPCC, EPCRA, TRI, NESHAP, and SWPPP. Manage permitting requirements, prepare regulatory reports, and maintain current knowledge of evolving rules. Support manufacturing teams by participating in Management of Change processes, conducting risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions for incidents or permit deviations. Lead investigations into chemical releases and spills, then collaborate with operations to reduce waste and improve sustainability initiatives. Maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, coordinate external audits, and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies. Promote compliance through employee training and engagement programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance experience in a chemical manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or related process industry environment.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental regulations including RCRA, CAA, CWA, EPCRA, TRI, SPCC, wastewater, and stormwater programs.
- Experience preparing regulatory reports and managing environmental compliance programs.
- Knowledge of industrial chemical processes and associated environmental risks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations applicable to chemical manufacturing operations.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation skills.
- Ability to influence operational teams and drive compliance through collaboration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
