Job Summary
Design and coordinate county-wide environmental education programs for Pre-K–12 students, delivering instructional field and classroom programs on topics such as ecology, natural resources, canoeing, and water safety. Integrate SMCPS content standards to teach at various school and field sites, while collaborating with the Environmental Education Coordinator to develop and enhance instructional content. Maintain instructional sites and program materials to ensure safe learning environments, and provide professional development and instructional support for SMCPS teachers and staff. Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including hot, cold, or inclement weather, on uneven terrain, and in and around water or wildlife. Adapt to changing priorities and varied work settings while communicating clearly with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- Experience in outdoor or environmental education
- Ability to work effectively with students of all grade levels
Desired Qualifications
- Prior instructional experience in water safety, canoeing, or kayaking
