Job Summary
Manage the department's operating budget, forecast updates, and financial results while driving revenue growth and expanding environmental service offerings. Coordinate activities, assign staff to projects, and lead direct supervision of 15–20 employees, ensuring mentorship, training, and succession planning are met. Oversee project delivery processes including scope, schedule, budget, and quality management, alongside sales efforts such as client discovery, proposal generation, and win-to-work activities. Maintain client relationships to ensure satisfaction and support the firm's strategic plan and contracting processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, or related field
- 10 years relevant experience
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Valid work authorization in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Engineering, Geology, Planning, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional certification or licensure such as Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
- 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, infrastructure, transportation, or related markets
- 4+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary environmental teams
- Demonstrated success developing client relationships, leading business development efforts, and winning environmental and infrastructure-related projects
- Proven experience growing a professional services practice, department, office, or environmental service line
- Experience developing and executing strategic growth plans, including market expansion and new service offerings
- Established relationships with transportation agencies, state and local governments, municipalities, transit agencies, and other infrastructure clients
- Strong understanding of NEPA, environmental permitting, natural resources, cultural resources, ecological services, and regulatory compliance
- Experience leading proposals, interviews, capture planning, and client account management activities
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, utilization management, and profitability
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and retain top talent while building a culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and growth
