Job Summary
Environmental Credit Risk Sr Officer role focusing on reviewing and analyzing environmental reports for commercial real estate lending transactions. The position requires quantitative and qualitative analysis of environmental credit risk, serving as a link between Bank personnel and environmental reports, coordinating environmental consultants, and producing reviews, memoranda, and recommendations. Responsibilities include reviewing Phase I ESA and other investigations, performing collateral-asset analysis for real estate lending, managing requests for proposals and scope definitions for environmental work, conducting independent research to supplement environmental information for real estate collateral, assisting in standardizing documentation for environmental inspections, and supporting environmental reviews related to bank acquisitions and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders, and expertise in environmental investigations and risk management within banking contexts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in environmental sciences or related fields, and may hold other professional designations or certifications as appropriate depending on the nature of assignments (ie. Registered Environmental Assessor, Certified Asbestos Consultant, etc.)
- At least seven years of experience administering environmental investigations, risk management and loss prevention programs with an environmental consultant, lender or property management firm protecting that organization’s or clients’ commercial real estate activities and assets.
- Concise oral and written communication skills; frequent interaction with internal managers, bankers, customers, external vendors, and other external representatives; networking with industry peers; make speeches or presentations; produce and distribute non-routine written materials with technical content, such as correspondence/memoranda, reports and information summaries.
