Job Summary
Environmental Compliance Manager (Project Manager) leads environmental compliance programs for industrial and commercial clients, focusing on air, water, waste, and chemical regulations; manages permits, reporting, and audits; serves as primary client/regulator contact; leads SPCC and SWPPP program implementation; oversees project delivery including scope, schedule, and budget; supports brownfield redevelopment and site assessments; drives business growth through client relationships and opportunities; requires strong knowledge of EPA/state regulations, and proven project-management and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of environmental compliance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy/chemical environments, with direct responsibility for permits, reporting, and audits
- Strong working knowledge of EPA and state regulations (CAA, CWA/NPDES, RCRA, EPCRA/Tier II/TRI, TSCA)
- Proven experience managing compliance programs, closing audit findings, and implementing corrective actions across teams
- Hands-on experience with permitting and reporting programs (e.g., air permits/Title V, SWPPP, SPCC, NPDES, hazardous waste, Tier II/TRI)
- Experience conducting or managing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and supporting site history research
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, track deadlines, and deliver high-quality work on time and on budget
- Clear and practical communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements for clients, operators, and stakeholders
- Detail-oriented and accountable, with strong organizational, analytical (Excel/data), and problem-solving skills
- Certifications (e.g., PE, CHMM, QEP, CPESC) are a plus
