Job Summary
On-site Environment Manager responsible for delivering the project's environmental strategy, leading ISO 14001/50001 compliance, developing Environmental and Energy Plans, and coordinating environmental requirements across construction, design, and commercial teams. Acts as the primary on-site liaison with regulatory bodies and the client's environmental team; ensures personnel understand environmental responsibilities, promotes a proactive culture of compliance and 'right first time' delivery; produces environmental performance reports, manages permits and waste records, and drives continuous improvement through lessons learned. Works with technical specialists to implement practical mitigation strategies, oversees environmental compliance assurance, and delivers targeted environmental training including inductions and toolbox talks. Requires degree-level environmental discipline (or related), MIEMA membership, CSCS certification, and proven experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 on major construction sites; strong communication, organisational, and project-controls skills; familiarity with Environment Act 2021, Environmental Protection Act 1990, and NEC contracts is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant experience of carbon and BREEAM assessment
- Experience of undertaking assessments of the carbon and energy impact of construction projects
- Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically environmental discipline (or related)
- Professional membership of an appropriate environmental body (eg MIEMA)
- Appropriate CSCS card type and level
