Job Summary
Environment and Climate Change Specialist 1 will support the Myanmar delegation in reducing environmental footprints by focusing on sustainable energy, waste management, water usage, and greenhouse gas emissions. Responsibilities include coordinating with sites and departments, collecting and managing data for the Environmental Performance Dashboard, organizing training and awareness campaigns, developing relationships with waste handling providers, and preparing sustainability budgets. The role requires site assessments, proposal of reduction measures, monitoring project indicators, and dissemination of lessons learned. Candidates should possess a university degree in a related environmental field, 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong stakeholder engagement and training skills, fluent English and Myanmar, and strong analytical and project management abilities.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
- Relevant training or certification in environmental management, climate change, sustainability, greenhouse gas accounting, renewable energy, waste management, or related fields is an asset.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in environment, climate change, sustainability, environmental management, or humanitarian/development programming.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental footprint reduction initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable procurement, water management, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, capacity building, partnership development, and delivery of training, presentations, and report writing.
- Experience working with humanitarian organizations, international NGOs, UN agencies, the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, or development organizations is an asset.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Myanmar language.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work with environmental data management tools and dashboards.
