Job Summary
Space Physics and Thermal Analyst within the Thermal Engineering and Space Environment group. Supports engineering in thermal and space physics topics, project management assistance, and modeling. Performs thermal and space physics analyses, thermal testing of spacecraft, payloads, instruments, mechanisms, and other space equipment. Uses SYSTEMA/Thermica and Thermal Desktop for analyses, and validates results with plausibility checks and manual calculations. Assists in developing a thermal control system and its subsystems, and monitors thermal tests (thermal vacuum and thermal balance) of satellites, spacecraft, and components. Requires collaboration across disciplines (electric, mechanical, QA, AIT) and entails regular travel. Strong multi-disciplinary thinking, proactive approach, and excellent English communication are required.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering or similar qualification
- Knowledge of conductive, convective and radiative heat transfer processes
- Experience with SYSTEMA/Thermica and Thermal Desktop
- CFD tool experience (e.g., TAU, Star-CCM+)
- ESA-DRAMA and OpenFOAM knowledge
- Python programming is advantageous
- Understanding of thermal material properties
- Understanding of orbital mechanics and solar system
- Ability to work in diverse, decentralized teams
- Strong English communication skills
- Willingness to travel regularly
