Job Summary
Entry-Level Wind Tunnel Model Design Engineer responsible for designing, fabricating, installing, and testing aerodynamic models for wind tunnel testing. Key duties include creating 3D solids and drawings/assemblies of wind tunnel balance and model parts using CATIA V5, performing stress analysis with hand, spreadsheet, and finite element tools, coordinating with manufacturing planning and shop personnel for timely completion, liaising with calibration personnel to ensure proper balance loading and calibration data acceptance, and installing/checking loads of balances at onsite and offsite locations with up to 10% travel. The role requires a BS in engineering or related field, strong writing/documentation skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team; U.S. citizenship required for security clearance; relocation possible based on eligibility. The position is union-represented and primarily first shift with potential shift changes; visa sponsorship is not offered.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering or equivalent experience
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Experience creating 3D part geometry, drawings and assemblies using CAD based tools (CATIA V5)
- Experience with CAD tools for 3D part geometry, drawings and assemblies
- Good writing and documentation skills
- Project management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
