Job Summary
Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineer at Boeing Space Electronics (El Segundo, CA) supports the entire SMT process from setup and programming to troubleshooting and continuous improvement of SMT equipment used in PCB assembly. Responsibilities include establishing procedures and standards, applying lean manufacturing tools, programming and operating SMT machines, designing and modifying solder paste stencils and tooling, developing SMT rework thermal profiles, configuring SMT equipment for new designs, maintaining build schedule targets, collaborating with design and engineering teams for continuous design improvement, and developing and executing Statistical Process Control for manufacturing processes. Requires 1+ years of SMT/PCB experience, IPC/J-STD-001 knowledge, and a BS degree in a related engineering/technical field; US citizenship and ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance; 100% onsite work; salary range $76,500–$103,500 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 1+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB), Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Manufacturing Engineering and Process Design
- 1+ years of experience working with and maintaining SMT machines and equipment (e.g., Solder Paste Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick and Place, Reflow Oven, AOI)
- Experience with IPC & J-STD-001
- Ability to obtain US Citizenship and Security Clearance (US Secret Clearance post-start)
- Ability to work 100% onsite
- Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD files
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for SMT equipment
- Experience in developing and improving manufacturing processes (e.g., SPC, yield, cost)
- Bachelor-level or higher in related engineering/technical field
- Experience with design-for-manufacturing input to design teams
- Strong collaboration with engineering and design teams
