Entry-Level Laboratory Technician Construction

Job Summary
Perform laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt following ASTM, AASHTO, and TxDOT standards. Prepare, cure, and test concrete cylinders while conducting routine procedures like moisture content, Atterberg limits, and Proctor compaction. Accurately record test data, maintain equipment, and assist with field investigations including drilling and site inspections. Prepare laboratory reports and ensure compliance with industry standards. This role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work off-shift and overtime. Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather and climb occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to perform fieldwork
- Reliable driving record
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to occasionally lift over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Ability to make discriminations in sound
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to climb occasionally
- Ability to work at various heights
- Working knowledge of soil mechanics
- Working knowledge of laboratory testing procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Geotechnical / CMT laboratory experience
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) Certification
- NICET certification or equivalent
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) status
- Experience with construction materials testing including concrete and compaction
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, or related field
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
