Job Summary
Entry Level Kitchen Position in Manhattan (Garment District) with DIG restaurants. CHEF-IN-TRAINING role offering hands-on supervision and growth through exposure to multiple stations within the kitchen (garde manger, grill, roast, market line, guest concierge, and delivery/packout). Responsibilities include prep, mixing, and cooking vegetables, proteins, and grains using recipes and taste as guidance; communicating menu offerings, seasonality, and ingredients to guests; supporting the team during peak and off-peak service; multi-tasking and maintaining food safety standards per DOH and DIG policies; upholding anti-discrimination & anti-harassment policies; and contributing to a collaborative, growth-oriented brigade. Qualifications emphasize a passion for real food, strong work ethic, ability to meet physical requirements, teamwork, and excellent verbal/written communication. Required Qualifications
- A passion for real, good food and a desire to learn culinary practices and skills
- The ability to demonstrate and execute a strong work ethic
- The ability to perform physical requirements of the position (frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds)
- The ability to perform other physical requirements such as seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours
