Job Summary
Inspect gas meters and underground lines to detect leaks and corrosion through visual examination and instrument probing. Complete necessary paperwork accurately, report unusual findings, and walk 3–4 miles daily across varying terrain in all weather conditions. Use simple hand tools, utility maps, and mobile technology to measure gas concentration with a plunger bar and probe. Perform on-time Monday-Friday shifts with occasional overtime and weekend work, adhering to physical requirements for lifting and standing. Receive paid training and earn $24/hour with performance-based increases.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must pass a Drug Screen Test
- Must provide a valid driver's License
- Must have a safe driving record
- Must pass a CORI (Criminal Background) Check
- Must pass Operator Qualification Test
- The ability to stand and walk for long periods on various terrain types
- The ability to bend and stoop
- The ability to lift heavy items
- Walking between 3 and 4 miles per day on varying types of terrain in all types of weather
- Ability to use Simple Hand Tools
- Ability to use and understand utility maps
- Proficient at using technology (smartphone, tablet)
- Must be able to arrive on time for shifts
- Must be able to report any unusual findings correctly
- Must be available for occasional overtime and weekend work
- Must be able to travel locally during the business day
- Must be able to travel out of the area and overnight from time to time
