Job Summary

Respond to alarms and emergency calls to suppress structural, industrial, and wildland fires while providing emergency medical care and victim rescue. Operate fire engines, pumping apparatus, and specialized tools to calculate pump pressure, lay hoses, and perform forcible entries. Conduct fire prevention inspections of public and commercial buildings, enforce codes, and manage hazardous materials incidents. Maintain station equipment, vehicles, and inventories; perform salvage and overhaul work after fires. Assist in fire investigations, conduct public education, and train new employees. Participate in shift work, on-call rotations, and continuing training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years of firefighting experience in a training capacity
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by successful completion of course work in fire science
  • State of Wyoming – NPQS accredited Firefighter I; Firefighter II
  • State of Wyoming Certified Firefighter I; Firefighter II
  • State of Wyoming – NPQS accredited Apparatus Driver Operator – Pumper; Apparatus Driver Operator – Aerial
  • State of Wyoming Fire Apparatus Operator
  • State of Wyoming – NPQS accredited Hazardous Materials – Awareness; Hazardous Materials – Operations
  • State of Wyoming Hazardous Material – Technician or Equivalent
  • American Heart Association – CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • State of Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician – Basic
  • An appropriate, valid driver's license
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift/drag 125-175 lbs.
  • Availability for shift work, on-call, and stand-by
