Job Summary
Conduct basic design tasks, calculations, and CAD coordination for municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment infrastructure projects. Perform site investigations, collect data, and review record drawings to support design development and document existing conditions. Assist senior engineers with hydraulic calculations, submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction-phase services including site observation reports. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical disciplines to ensure compliance with specifications and permits.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field
- Typically 0-4 years of related work experience in civil or environmental engineering or related field
- Has passed or is working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam required for Engineer-in-Training registration
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic modeling tools, engineering calculation software, or similar design and analysis tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and coordination with internal project teams
- Ability to follow set procedures and guidelines diligently
- This position is subject to a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Applies foundational engineering principles to analyze gravity and pressurized pipe flow, with general familiarity in pumped system concepts
- Basic understanding of municipal water and wastewater systems, including pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, reservoirs, treatment facilities, and related appurtenances
- Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in providing well-defined solutions to routine problems
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, standards, details, and permit requirements
