Enterprise Architect
On-siteAdelaide, South Australia, Australia
Job Summary
Develop and evolve enterprise architecture strategies, principles, standards, and roadmaps across Business, Data, Application, and Technology domains. Lead architecture governance through review boards and design authority participation while defining reusable patterns and reference architectures. Design complex, end-to-end solutions spanning hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, and edge environments, conducting assessments to surface risks and modernisation opportunities. Build trusted advisor relationships with customer stakeholders from the C-suite, leading discovery workshops and supporting pre-sales activity with proposals and RFP responses. Mentor junior and mid-level architects while collaborating across delivery teams to preserve architectural intent. Represent Datacom's capability at industry events and thought leadership engagements. This senior leadership role requires 10+ years of IT experience, TOGAF knowledge, and cloud platform expertise to shape technology futures for significant regional organisations.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT experience with a strong enterprise architecture background spanning multiple domains
- A track record of delivering architecture outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments — enterprise or government
- Practical experience producing real architecture artefacts: reference architectures, roadmaps, ADRs, standards documentation
- Hands-on experience in customer-facing roles — discovery, pre-sales, workshops, and executive presentations
- Experience designing for hybrid and multi-cloud environments and translating architecture decisions into commercial context
- Strong working knowledge of TOGAF or equivalent EA frameworks, applied pragmatically in real-world engagements
- Solid grasp of modern application architecture — microservices, event-driven, API-first, containerisation, and serverless
- Working knowledge of data architecture principles — data governance, data mesh, lakehouse, MDM, and analytics platforms
- Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with working familiarity across others
- Understanding of zero-trust security principles, IAM, and security-by-design practices
- Commercial acumen — including software licensing, TCO analysis, business case development, and FinOps thinking
- Exceptional ability to decompose complex problems into structured, actionable decisions
- Outstanding communication skills: Able to translate technical complexity for C-suite executives and technical teams alike
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills: Confident leading workshops, steering committees, and executive briefings
- A collaborative mindset: Able to influence without authority and rally diverse teams around a shared architectural vision
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience
- NV-1 Clearance
