Job Summary
Enhanced TASC Peer Support Specialist dedicated to supporting justice-involved individuals with primary mental health diagnoses, including serious mental illness. Provides peer support and mentoring to engage clients in behavioral health treatment and community resources, accompanies clients to appointments, and helps overcome housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social determinants of health barriers. Leverages lived experience and recovery principles to build rapport, maintain confidentiality, document services in electronic health records, and collaborate with justice systems, healthcare providers, and community partners. Must have NC Peer Support Specialist Certification, a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, and be willing to travel across the service area. Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills and ability to work independently are required. Salary commensurate with experience and includes comprehensive benefits. Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent or higher
- Certification: North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification Program
- Experience: Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders and at least two years of recovery
- Driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of wellness, recovery, and peer support principles
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain supportive relationships with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with justice systems, healthcare providers, and community partners
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Accurate documentation of services and compliance with program standards and timelines
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the service area
