Job Summary
Enhanced TASC Peer Support Specialist in Cumberland County (Fayetteville, NC) provides peer support and mentoring to justice-involved individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders, assisting engagement in behavioral health treatment and community resources, accompanying clients to appointments, and supporting housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social determinants of health. The role requires lived experience with mental health/substance use recovery, NC Peer Support Specialist certification, a valid driver's license, strong communication and organizational skills, proficiency with EHR and remote collaboration tools, and the ability to travel across the service area while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. Responsibilities include building rapport, facilitating recovery-oriented supports, navigating behavioral health systems, and collaborating with justice systems, healthcare providers, and community partners to promote treatment engagement and community stability. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes eligible benefits; open until filled.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent or higher
- Certification: North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification Program
- Experience: Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders; at least two years of recovery
- Driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of wellness, recovery, and peer support principles
- Ability to establish rapport and support individuals with mental health challenges
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems and remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to collaborate with justice systems, healthcare providers, and community partners
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Accurate documentation and compliance with program standards and timelines
- Willingness to travel throughout service area
