Job Summary
Teach secondary English courses using approved curriculum while developing students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills through diverse literature and varied instructional strategies. Implement differentiated instruction for individual and small-group learning, assess progress via formative and summative evaluations, and maintain accurate academic records. Foster an inclusive classroom environment by collaborating with staff, communicating with parents, and supervising extracurricular activities. Requires a Bachelor's degree in English and a valid Virginia Teaching License.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a major or minor in English
- Eligible for or currently holding a valid Virginia Teaching License
- Tuberculin (TB) screening confirming absence of contagious tuberculosis
- Ability to use computers and instructional technology in the classroom
- Strong knowledge of English Language Arts curriculum and instructional practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and collaboration skills
