Job Summary
Teach four sections of English literature and serve as an advisor to a group of approximately 12 students. Deliver instruction that supports students of all backgrounds to succeed academically, collaborate, and develop self-reflection tools for personal growth through anti-racist and identity-inclusive pedagogy. Participate fully in the academic and co-curricular life of the school by engaging in Advisory, Public Purpose, and DEI Programs, as well as routine attendance in curricular team meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings, and office hours. Begin January 4, 2026, for a temporary full-time, exempt role covering the 2nd semester sabbatical through June.
Required Qualifications
- A preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching students how to read, write, think and speak critically about literature and what it shows about the human experience
- Several years experience teaching at the high school level, particularly 9th and 11th grades
- Strong ability and experience with developing grade level curriculum in English Literature
- Demonstrated cultural competency in text selection, assignments, and student feedback and support and a commitment to equity and anti-racist instruction
- Demonstrated experience with effectively scaffolding student learning, including differentiated instruction for students across various academic and social backgrounds
- A commitment to work collaboratively on a grade level team, as well as across disciplines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
