Job Summary
The English Teacher will support instructional services for scholars within a secure DC Department of Corrections facility, delivering multi-grade, multi-content coursework across Reading/RLA, English I-IV, and related areas to adult scholars. Responsibilities include facilitating lesson delivery and timely grading, adapting lessons for varied learning levels, maintaining a positive, restorative classroom environment, collaborating with colleagues and facility staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and preparing reports (lesson plans, assessments, progress reports, gradebook) on time. The role emphasizes instructional delivery, classroom management, collaboration, and adherence to organizational and regulatory guidelines. Bachelor's degree in education or subject field is required, with initial OSSE certification to be obtained within 1 year; experience with justice-involved youth is preferred. Salary range: USD 67,500 – 107,500 per year. The position is salaried, full-time, based in Washington, DC.
