Job Summary
Assist educators in instructional duties, tutoring support, and data entry for students in specialized programs. Provide accommodations, proctor assessments, and facilitate program implementation including transportation and field trips. Alert staff to student behavior issues, monitor assignments, and translate communications between students and teachers. Coordinate meetings, contact parents, and retrieve required forms while adhering to attendance policies. This role supports diverse youth populations, including those with exceptional needs or who are deaf/hard of hearing, within a Title 1 funded environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of at least two years of College (48 units)
- Associate degree (or higher) from an accredited state college
- Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction issued by an approved Local education agency
- Experience working with students
- Experience working with low economic and at-risk populations
- Experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs
- Experience with student who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience in the related Career Technical Education content area
- Experience in the Literacy content area
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluent in sign language
- Certification by the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Certification by any certifying body recognized by the National Cued Speech Association (NCSA) if providing Cued Speech interpretation
- Fluency in the specified language requirement or specific education program
- Ability to read
- Ability to write
- Ability to speak
- Ability to translate communications between students and teachers
- Ability to travel in performance of job duties
