Job Summary

Ensure all school sites meet compliance requirements for annual ELPAC testing, follow the English Language Proficiency Scope & Sequence, and utilize the Reclassification Matrix to determine reclassification. Maintain updated English Language Learner Recipe Cards and Master Plans while providing resources and pathways for success for teachers, staff, students, and parents. Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer and Data teams to ensure accurate EL data representation, review assessment trends, and identify growth areas for leaders and students. Support the yearly Professional Development Scope & Sequence, conduct site leader coaching, and visit classrooms to evaluate integrated and designated language instruction across K-12 sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field
  • 4+ years of teaching experience with English Language Learner experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in support of English Learners (i.e. English Language Coach, English Language Specialist, English Language Case Manager, English Language Coordinator)
  • Evidence of English Language experience with curriculum, instruction, research, and methodologies in support of language learners
  • Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity
  • Able to support, model, teach, mentor, and create as needed and/or determined by the Deputy Superintendent of Academics in support of meeting the needs of language learners at our schools
  • Able to travel between 14 schools at PUC Schools located in North East Los Angeles and North East San Fernando Valley
  • Must be flexible and team-oriented
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards
  • Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.

  • Possess an Administrative Credential
  • Bilingual in Spanish
