English Language Arts Teacher

Job Summary
Teach a diverse curriculum covering literature, composition, grammar, and language usage while developing comprehensive lesson plans and assessments that cater to varied learning styles. Guide students through one-on-one and small group projects, fostering engagement and a love for reading and writing within a progressive, competency-based learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives while maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and school staff. Work Monday through Thursday from 7:50am to 4pm, with Friday office hours from 9am to 3:30pm, supporting a school of approximately 200 students in the Metro-Detroit area.
Required Qualifications
- Must have teacher certification and endorsement
- Block Scheduling on Monday - Thursday (7:50am - 4pm); Friday office hours from 9am - 3:30pm
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lb
- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
