Job Summary

Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores on ACT and SAT exams. Track student progress through Vanguard's unique multi-phase curriculum and maintain lesson schedules while holding students accountable for assignments. Spearhead the development and creative execution of evolving lesson plans and model professionalism through timely communication. Guide middle and high school students with empathy regarding the competitive college application process. Work Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm CST, with Saturday and Sunday shifts from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm CST. Base pay ranges from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour for 40 hours per week. This role offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus paid time off and fully paid winter vacations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities field from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)
  • Teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
  • Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
  • Commitment to work during Hours of Operations: Mondays and Fridays: Closed; Tuesdays to Thursdays: 1:30 pm CST to 9:30 pm CST; Saturdays and Sundays: 9:30 am CST to 5:30 pm CST
