Job Summary
Secondary Teacher (grades 6-12) is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a secondary school. Designs and implements appropriate instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum; creates a positive educational climate for students; delivers relevant and rigorous lessons to maximize engagement and achievement; employs diverse teaching practices reflecting varied educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds; observes and evaluates student performance, maintains grades/attendance, and uses assessment data to inform instruction; manages classroom behavior with effective strategies; communicates with parents and district personnel regarding student progress; safeguards health and safety of students and confidentiality of records; maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required; performs other duties as assigned. The district emphasizes equal opportunity and notes preferences for certain veterans and spouses of veterans who are Florida residents; Certificates/Licenses/Registrations emphasize Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred and eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate.
