Job Summary
Deliver undergraduate English courses including composition, creative writing, critical thinking, and literature in person on the New York campus, meeting two days per week for 2-hour sessions. Create and maintain an environment emphasizing learning, free discussion, and critical thinking while providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion content. Evaluate student progress, assess work, and maintain accurate academic records in accordance with established curricula and class schedules. Uphold professional conduct, ethics, and current subject matter knowledge as a part-time adjunct faculty member supporting emerging performing artists in building academic and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal Degree (Ph.D., D.F.A., Ed.D., or equivalent) in English, Literature, Composition, Comparative Literature, Rhetoric, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- A Master's Degree (M.A., M.F.A., M.Ed., etc.) in one of the above disciplines with substantial documented teaching experience at the college or university level
- Extensive experience in higher education, plus a Master's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition
- A minimum of three years of teaching English/Literature/Comparative Literature or Composition in a post-secondary setting
- Experience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology
- Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Active scholarship in related field
